How the CRS Works

The Express Entry system relies on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) to rank candidates in the pool. It evaluates profiles based on several criteria to identify those most likely to succeed economically in Canada.

Point Breakdown:

  • Core Human Capital Skills: Points for age, education, official languages proficiency, and Canadian work experience.
  • Spouse or Common-law Partner Factors: Points for your spouse or partner's education, languages proficiency, and Canadian work experience.
  • Skill Transferability Factors: Extra points based on combinations like education + language proficiency, or foreign work experience + language proficiency.
  • Additional Points: Up to 600 points for a provincial nomination, Canadian degrees, a valid job offer, sibling in Canada, or French language skills.

Total Maximum Score: 1200 points.
